What Happens During an Eye Exam?

Eye exams aim to test your vision and identify any issues with your sight or eyes. Most eye exams consist of one of our doctors asking you about any prior issues with your eyes, and any pertinent medical history you may have.

After that, your eyes will be tested for visual acuity. This usually involves the classic letter chart, or showing two images and asking you to choose which one is less blurry. The doctor then can deduce whether or not you need glasses or prescription contacts.

It’s also important to test your eye pressure during these exams. This is done by numbing your eyes with eye drops, and then the doctor will measure your eye pressure. This process is easier if the doctor dilates your eyes as well.

Depending on your needs, our doctors can perform a large variety of other tests. These include eye muscle tests, refraction assessments, visual field tests, color vision testing, and more!
